Scuderia Corsa will make its foray into open-wheel racing this May when it fields Oriol Servia in the 102nd Running of the Indianapolis 500 in conjunction with Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing.
Servia, who has 74 IndyCar races under his belt across nine seasons, contested last year’s Indy 500 with the Bobby Rahal-led team as well as the doubleheader on Detroit’s Belle Isle.
The Italian Scuderia Corsa team enters IndyCar competition having won three of the last four GT Daytona titles in the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship. The program is significant for RLL too, which will field three cars in the “500” for its first time since 2006.
Servia crashed and finished 21st at Indianapolis last year after being in contention for the win. The Spanish driver’s best result in the famed 500-mile race is his fourth-place finish in 2012.
The first Indy 500 for Scuderia Corsa and 10th for Servia will take place May 27.
