Meyer Shank Racing will bring an extra Acura NSX GT3 to its home track when the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship visits the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course for its first time.
In addition to the full-time No. 93 Acura of Lawson Aschenbach and Justin Marks, the team will field its No. 86 with drivers Katherine Legge and Alvaro Parente in the Acura Sports Car Challenge.
The second car, originally intended as solely a Tequila Patron North American Endurance Cup participant in 2018, was competitive at both the Rolex 24 at Daytona and the Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring where it finished second and eighth, respectively.
“We’ve had a strong start to the season so far with both cars and we’ve been working really hard to get the 86 car out for Mid-Ohio,” said team co-owner Mike Shank. “This track is so close to home and we have had so many great memories at this event, we were really motivated to make it happen.”
Shank’s team, based in Columbus, Ohio, began competing at Mid-Ohio in 1994 and most recently raced there in 2013 with a Daytona Prototype.
The return of both the team and sports car racing to the 2.258-mile natural terrain road course will take place on the weekend of May 4–6.
