Meyer Shank Racing’s No. 86 Acura NSX GT3 will contest the Mobil 1 SportsCar Grand Prix at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park following a sponsorship commitment from SiriusXM Canada.
Originally scheduled to participate in only the four Tequila Patron North American Endurance Cup rounds, the No. 86 Acura was added to the GT Daytona fields at Mid-Ohio and Belle Isle as the car remained near the top of the points standings.
Sitting second in the GTD championship after winning last time out at the Chevrolet Sports Car Classic in Detroit, the No. 86 car will sport a black livery with SiriusXM branding and blue accents at this weekend’s Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen and the two-hour, 40-minute CTMP race. The full-time No. 93 entry, fourth in the class, will have SiriusXM logos added to the patriotic livery that Justin Marks and Lawson Aschenbach will put in motion.
SiriusXM has been a major supporter of Michael Shank’s racing endeavors, including at the Indianapolis 500 and other Verizon IndyCar Series races with Jack Harvey. The company’s CEO Jim Meyer assumed a co-owner role alongside Shank earlier this year.
Alvaro Parente was replaced by Mario Farnbacher as Katherine Legge’s co-driver in the car for Detroit but will return alongside Legge at Watkins Glen as well as during the CTMP weekend, which will take place July 6–8.
For the first time since finishing 1-2 on Belle Isle, both Acuras will return to action at Watkins Glen for the six-hour contest that will begin Sunday, July 1 at 9:45 a.m. EDT.
