Joining the Cadillac fold to run a pair of Cadillac DPi-V.R cars next year, JDC-Miller Motorsports has become the first team to confirm its intention to move up from LMP2 to the new top-level DPi class in 2019.

The team’s association with the American brand and advancement to the debuting premier class will begin with the Rolex 24 at Daytona in January 2019 after it takes delivery of two new Cadillac-powered prototypes in September and begins testing in November.

With two podium finishes in the last three races including an overall victory at the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen for its No. 99 “Red Dragon” machine, the team has found success in the final year of the combined Prototype category.

If all current teams remain aligned with Cadillac, the addition of JDC-Miller to the group brings the number up to four with the John Church-managed team joining Wayne Taylor Racing, Action Express Racing and Spirit of Daytona Racing.

“We welcome the JDC-Miller team to the Cadillac V-Performance family,” said Matt Russell, marketing manager of Cadillac Racing. “Their performance with the LMP2 cars has been impressive and we look forward to them joining the grid with their two new Cadillac DPi-V.R cars at Daytona in January.”

While complete details of the team’s move to the DPi class — including driver lineup — have not yet been announced, Church has guaranteed the return of at least one driver.

“We can confirm that Stephen Simpson for sure will remain with the team for 2019,” said Church. “Since we had an option to continue with Stephen, and after his performance this year, there was no question that he will be in the lineup in one of JDC-Miller Motorsports Cadillac DPis for next year.”

Despite preparations for next year already beginning, the team will head to WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca Sept. 7–9 for the Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix before wrapping up the season Oct. 13 at Road Atlanta.
