AIM Vasser Sullivan’s foray into the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in 2019 will be expedited by the extension of Jack Hawksworth’s time as a driver of a Lexus RC F GT3.
Hawksworth paired with Robert Alon then David Heinemeier Hansson in the No. 15 Lexus during the car’s first two seasons competing in GT Daytona. The former IndyCar Series pilot collected four pole positions in 2018 along with five fastest race laps.
Beyond the cars themselves, Hawksworth is the lone confirmed piece of 3GT Racing transitioning to the new effort combining Canada’s AIM Autosport and current IndyCar entrants Jimmy Vasser and James Sullivan.
“The Lexus RC F GT3 is a new platform for us and Jack has proven that he understands the car and knows what it takes to put us in the winner’s circle,” said team co-owner and lead engineer Ian Willis. “This is fantastic for us and offers a terrific advantage and opportunity for Jack’s eventual co-drivers.”
In a press release, the team reports that inquiries from professional and amateur drivers have been numerous since its launch earlier this month.
